The steps, from booking to coming home
- Choose your month. Ramadan and the school holidays are the busiest times. Other months are quieter and cost less.
- Check your passport. It usually needs at least six months left on it.
- Book your package, or your hotels and transport. Before the visa is issued, Saudi Arabia usually asks for confirmed hotel and transport bookings on Nusuk.
- Apply for the visa. We help you with the application.
- Get the vaccinations your visa needs. We tell you which apply to you.
- Fly to Jeddah or Madinah. If you start in Makkah, you put on ihram before the miqat, which you usually pass on the plane.
- Perform Umrah: tawaf, sa'i, then cutting or shaving the hair. Our step-by-step guide explains each part.
- Spend the rest of your days in prayer, visit Madinah and the Prophet's Mosque, and fly home.
How many days do you need?
The rites of Umrah take a few hours. Many people stay 10 to 15 days so they have time in both Makkah and Madinah. A week can work if you are short of time. With children or elderly parents, a longer stay at a slower pace is easier.
Makkah or Madinah first?
It depends on where you land. From Jeddah, Makkah is closer, so many people perform Umrah first and go to Madinah afterwards. If you fly into Madinah, you can start there and go to Makkah later, putting on ihram at the miqat on the way.
Starting in Madinah gives a first-timer a few calmer days before Umrah. Starting in Makkah means you perform Umrah while you are fresh.
The visa and Nusuk
Nusuk is Saudi Arabia's official app and website for Umrah. It is used for Umrah permits, for Rawdah visits in Madinah and, for many visas, for the hotel and transport bookings. The rules depend on your passport and where you live, and they change often.
We help you with the visa application and the bookings it needs. We can't guarantee a visa: Saudi Arabia decides. Our visa information page lists the documents you usually need.

Questions and answers
Do I need a package for my first Umrah?
No, but it helps. With a package, one company books the hotels and transport the visa needs, and you have someone to call. If you already have flights, we can arrange the rest.
How long does Umrah take?
The rites take a few hours, depending on the crowds. Many people stay 10 to 15 days to spend time in both Makkah and Madinah.
Is it better to go with a group or as a family?
A group costs less and you have people around you. A private family trip lets you go at your own pace. We arrange both.
What if I get lost in the Haram?
Agree a meeting point with your family before you go in, such as a numbered gate. Keep your phone charged and save our WhatsApp number.
Do you help with the visa?
Yes. We help you with the application and the bookings it needs. Saudi Arabia decides on every visa, so we can't promise one.
