What 5-star means in Makkah and Madinah
The star rating tells you about the room and the service. For Umrah, three other things matter as much:
- How far the hotel is from the Haram in minutes of walking, and which gate you reach first
- Whether the room looks onto the Kaaba or the Prophet's Mosque, or onto the city
- How long the lifts take at prayer times. In the big towers next to the Haram, the queue for the lifts can be long just before and after each prayer
Two 5-star hotels can be very different on these points. Before you book, we tell you how the hotels on your quote compare.
Where the 5-star hotels are
In Makkah, most 5-star hotels are in the towers around Masjid al-Haram, including the Clock Tower (Abraj Al Bait) and Jabal Omar. In Madinah, they stand around the Prophet's Mosque, most of them a short walk from its gates.

Haram view or city view?
A Haram view room looks onto the Kaaba or the mosque. Some families choose one so that an elderly parent can still see the Haram on days they can't go down. These rooms cost more than a city view in the same hotel, and there are fewer of them, so ask early.
A city view room in a hotel next to the Haram still gets you there in minutes. If the view does not matter to you, it is the easiest way to keep the price down.

What changes the price
There is no price on this page because the price depends on these choices. Your written quote shows the price for your dates, with the hotel names and the room plan, so you can compare it with other quotes.

Confirm and pay
When you are happy, you confirm and pay a deposit by bank transfer. Our bank details are on the booking documents we send you. The balance is due before you travel.
We look after you there
Our team is in Makkah and Madinah while you are. If a room or a transfer is not right, message us and we deal with it.
Questions and answers
How much is a 5-star Umrah package?
The price depends mostly on the hotel, the room view, your dates and how many people share the room. Ramadan and December cost the most. Send your dates and we quote with the hotel names.
Why do 5-star prices vary so much between companies?
Two quotes can both say 5-star and still have different hotels, room types and dates. Compare the hotel names, the room view, the meals, the transport and the nights in each city. Our quote lists all of them.
Can I choose my hotel?
Yes. Name it on the form. If it is full for your dates, we suggest the closest match and tell you how it differs.
Is breakfast included?
Only if your quote says so. Some rooms come with breakfast and some without. Tell us what you want.
