Room plans for a family of 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7

Most hotels in Makkah and Madinah have double, triple and quad rooms. A family room plan is a mix of these. These are the plans families ask for most, and we check what each hotel allows for your dates.

Common room plans by family size
Family sizeUsual room plan
3 peopleOne triple room.
4 peopleOne quad room, or two double rooms if you want more space.
5 peopleA quad room with an extra bed where the hotel allows it, or a triple and a double.
6 peopleTwo triple rooms, or a quad and a double.
7 peopleA quad and a triple, on the same floor if the hotel can do it.

Hotels set their own rules for children: the age from which a child needs their own bed, and whether a baby cot is available. We check these for your hotels before we quote. We also ask for your rooms to be on the same floor. The hotel makes the final decision on the day, so we can't promise it.

Umrah with elderly parents

Tawaf and Sa'i involve a lot of walking, and the walk from the hotel adds more. For parents who tire easily, we look for hotels close to the Haram with a short walk to the gate, and we plan fewer, slower days.

  • A hotel near the Haram, so your parents can go back and rest between prayers
  • Madinah first if it suits them. Many families find Madinah calmer and an easier start
  • A private car or van, so nobody waits in the heat for a shared bus
  • Wheelchairs and electric carts can be booked at the Haram. We tell you how to book them for your dates
  • A rest after the journey before you perform Umrah, if your parents need it

If a parent uses a wheelchair, tick the box on the form. It changes which hotels and which transport we suggest.

Umrah with children

Children can perform Umrah, and many families bring them. The crowds and the heat are the hard parts, so planning matters more than it does for adults on their own.

  • Choose quieter weeks if your school dates allow it
  • Stay close to the Haram so children can go back for a nap
  • The rules on prams and pushchairs inside the Haram change. We tell you the current rule before you fly. A baby carrier is often easier
  • Give each child a card or wristband with your phone number, in case you get separated

Our checklist of what to pack for Umrah helps with the children's bags.

A sample 14-day family plan, Madinah first

This is an example. We change it to fit your dates and your family.

  1. Day 1: Fly to Madinah. A private car or van takes you to your hotel.
  2. Days 2 to 5: Prayers at the Prophet's Mosque at your own pace, and Ziyarat in Madinah one morning if you want it.
  3. Day 6: Private van to Makkah, stopping at the miqat at Dhul Hulaifah to put on ihram.
  4. Day 6 or 7: Perform Umrah once the family has rested.
  5. Days 7 to 13: Prayers at Masjid al-Haram, and Ziyarat in Makkah one morning if you want it.
  6. Day 14: Private van to Jeddah airport for your flight home.

Flying into Jeddah instead? We turn the plan around and start in Makkah.

What is included and what is not

Your written quote lists exactly what is in your package. These are the usual choices.

Included when you choose it

  • Hotels in Makkah and Madinah, with the room plan your family needs
  • A private car or van with room for your family and luggage
  • Help with the Umrah visa application for each family member
  • Ziyarat in Makkah and Madinah, if you want it
  • Our team on the ground in Makkah and Madinah
  • Flights, if you ask us to include them

Not included unless your quote says so

  • Anything your written quote does not list
  • Meals your quote does not list
  • Travel insurance
  • Personal spending, laundry and a phone SIM
  • Wheelchairs or electric carts inside the Haram, which are booked separately
  • A Rawdah visit: it is booked on Nusuk and nobody can guarantee a slot

We don't issue visas and can't guarantee one: Saudi Arabia decides. We help you with the application and the bookings it needs.

What changes the price

There is no price on this page because the price depends on these choices. Your written quote shows the price for your dates, with the hotel names and the room plan, so you can compare it with other quotes.

What changes the price of an Umrah package
What you chooseHow it changes the price
Your datesRamadan, December and school holidays cost more. Quieter months cost less.
Distance from the HaramHotels next to the gates cost more than hotels further out, where you walk longer or take a shuttle.
Room viewA room that looks onto the Kaaba or the Prophet's Mosque costs more than a city view in the same hotel.
Room sharingFour people in a quad room each pay less than two people in a double room.
MealsRoom only costs least. Breakfast, or breakfast and dinner, adds to the price.
TransportA private car or van costs more than a shared bus.
Nights in each cityMore nights cost more, and hotel prices in Makkah and Madinah are not the same.
FlightsFares depend on the airline, the route and how early you book. Many families book their own.

Questions and answers

How much is an Umrah package for a family of 4 or 5?

It depends on your dates, the hotels and the room plan. A family of four in one quad room usually pays less per person than the same family in two double rooms. Send your dates and we quote for your family.

Do children pay the full price?

It depends on the hotel and the airline. Hotels set their own rules for children's beds, and airlines set their own fares for children and babies. Your quote shows the price for each person.

Can we have rooms next to each other?

We ask the hotel for rooms on the same floor or side by side. The hotel decides on the day, so we can't promise it, but we ask early.

Is Umrah hard for elderly parents?

It involves a lot of walking. A hotel close to the Haram, a private car and a slower plan make it easier. Wheelchairs and electric carts are available at the Haram.

Should we go to Madinah or Makkah first?

Either works. Families with young children or elderly parents often start in Madinah because it is calmer. If you fly into Jeddah, starting in Makkah saves a long drive.

Can you help my parents with their visas?

We help each family member with the visa application. Saudi Arabia decides on every visa, so we can't promise one.
