How much does Umrah cost from the UK?

Short answer
Umrah from the UK costs five things: your return flights, a land package for hotels and transport in Makkah and Madinah, your Saudi entry permission, travel insurance and spending money. You book the flights; we arrange the ground. The month, the hotel's distance from the Haram and room sharing move the total most.
Travel advice changes. Before you book, check the latest UK government (FCDO) travel advice for Saudi Arabia (opens in a new tab) and make sure your travel insurance covers your trip. Checked 20/10/2026.

A UK package price and a land quote buy different things
Most UK Umrah prices you see online include the flight and are quoted per person with four sharing a room. Ours leaves the flight out, because we are not ATOL protected and we sell UK families land packages only. Before you put the two side by side, line them up:
| UK package with flights | Our land package | |
|---|---|---|
| Return flight | Included | You book with an airline or UK agent |
| ATOL protection | May be included if the seller holds an ATOL | Not offered; any flight protection is between you and whoever sells your ticket |
| Hotels | Ask for the names and metres to the gate | Named hotels, with metres to the gate in writing |
| Transport | Ask whether it is shared or private | Private car from the airport, between the cities and back |
| Room plan | Set by the package's sharing basis | Your own plan for your family |
| Entry permission | Ask whether it is included | You apply; we help with the paperwork |
ATOL protection covers you if the company fails, and it is worth something. A land package suits you if you already have a fare you like, want to use air miles, or want to choose the exact hotels and pace. If none of those apply and protection matters most to you, a UK ATOL package may be the better buy.
Three ways in on a British passport
British citizens have more than one route, and they don't cost the same once insurance is counted. GOV.UK's entry requirements page lists three:
| Route | Valid for | Stay | Health insurance included | Umrah |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tourist e-visa | 365 days, multiple entries | Up to 90 days in total | Yes, up to SAR 100,000 | The Saudi eVisa portal says the tourist visa covers Umrah, excluding Hajj |
| Electronic travel authorisation (ETA) | 730 days, multiple entries | Up to 180 days in total | No | Listed for Umrah outside the Hajj season |
| Electronic visa waiver | One entry | Up to 180 days | No | Listed for Umrah outside the Hajj season; apply at least 48 hours and up to 90 days before you fly |
GOV.UK doesn't list the fees, and they have changed over the years, so check the current fee on the official portal on the day you apply. Hajj needs a separate visa on every route. Whichever route you use, you also book an Umrah permit in the Nusuk app before you go to Masjid al-Haram for Umrah.
Families with British and Pakistani passports should check each person separately. A parent visiting from Pakistan on a Pakistani passport usually needs an Umrah visa through a licensed route. Our Umrah visa guide for UK, USA and Canada residents covers ILR and mixed families.
We don't issue visas and can't promise one. The Saudi authorities decide. We make the hotel and transport bookings the application needs and help you through it.
Travel insurance
The e-visa's SAR 100,000 health cover is not a travel insurance policy. It won't refund a cancelled flight, and the ETA and visa waiver come with no health cover at all. Buy insurance before you pay for anything that can't be refunded.
The FCDO currently advises against all but essential travel to Saudi Arabia outside the Yemen border area, and against all travel within 10km of that border (updated 17/10/2026, still current on 20/10/2026). It notes that travel insurance may be invalid if you travel against its advice. Ask your insurer in writing whether your policy covers Saudi Arabia on your dates. Older parents should declare every health condition. Look for cover for hospital stays and getting home if someone falls ill. Get quotes from UK insurers; we don't sell insurance.
Flights from UK airports
Heathrow's departures board lists Saudia flights to Jeddah, such as SV120. Manchester and Birmingham airports have both announced Saudia services to Jeddah in recent years, Manchester in 2021 and Birmingham in 2023. Days and frequencies change by season, so search saudia.com for your dates. From Gatwick, Glasgow and other airports, most routes stop in the Gulf, Istanbul or Cairo.
Fares change daily, so none are quoted here. With children, school holidays decide most of it: October half term, Christmas and February half term are the dearest weeks to fly. Fares also rise for the last ten nights of Ramadan, expected roughly from late February to early March 2027. A stop saves money and costs hours; with young children or elderly parents, direct is usually worth it. Flying into Madinah and home from Jeddah, or the reverse, saves a long road trip and sometimes costs no more.
Book refundable or changeable fares if you can. Send us your flight times as soon as you book, and if they change, we move your airport pickup where we can.
The land package

This is the part we price. It covers hotels in Makkah and Madinah, private transport, ziyarat if you want it, help with the visa paperwork, and our team on the ground. See Umrah services without flights.
What moves a UK land quote, on the same dates:
| What you choose | What it does to the price |
|---|---|
| Hotel distance: next to the Haram, a short walk, or a shuttle ride | The biggest swing. Front-row hotels cost the most |
| Room plan: quad, triple or double | Four in a room costs less per person than two |
| Nights: 7, 10 or 14 | More nights, more hotel cost, but a calmer pace |
| Nights in Makkah against nights in Madinah | The two cities are priced differently, so the split matters |
| Private car or Haramain train | A car is priced per car, so it suits families |
Ask us for today's price on your dates. Your written quote states the currency and what it includes.
Distance should mean metres on foot to the nearest gate you can use. A private car keeps the family and luggage together; for one or two travellers, the Haramain train is an option, with fares shown for your date on sar.hhr.sa.
Spending money

Plan for these on top of the land package:
| Item | Notes |
|---|---|
| Meals not included in the hotel | Prices vary a lot between hotel restaurants and simple cafes |
| Saudi SIM or eSIM | Useful for WhatsApp with our team and for the Nusuk app |
| Laundry on a trip of 10 nights or more | Most hotels offer it; ask the price at check-in |
| Wheelchair or electric cart at the Haram | Worth it for a parent who can't walk far |
| Zamzam, dates and gifts | Your choice |
Take a card that doesn't charge foreign transaction fees, and some SAR in cash for small shops and taxis.
When UK families go, and what that does to the price
| Window | Price effect | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Christmas holidays 2026 | High | Book early; see December Umrah |
| February half term 2027 | High | In Birmingham, 15/02/2027 to 19/02/2027. Likely inside Ramadan 1448, expected to begin around 08/02/2027 |
| Last ten nights of Ramadan | Highest | Roughly late February to early March 2027, depending on the moon |
| Easter 2027 (Sunday 28/03/2027) | Not possible on an Umrah visa | Birmingham's Easter holiday runs 26/03/2027 to 11/04/2027; the last entry on Umrah visas for 1448 is 23/03/2027. See Easter Umrah 2027 |
| Quieter term-time weeks | Lower | More hotel choice near the Haram |
The Birmingham dates come from schools that follow the city council's calendar; academies can set their own, and other councils differ, so check your child's school.
Easter is the question we can't answer yet. The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah's 1448 dates cover Umrah visas only, and as of 20/10/2026 we have not seen a rule for e-visa, ETA or visa waiver holders in late March and April 2027. Keep any Easter booking flexible until it is published. Our school holidays page has the dates by country.
Three UK trips, line by line
Each of these families pays the same five lines: flights they book, entry permission, insurance, our land package and spending money. What changes is which line weighs most.
A couple from Bradford, 7 nights in term time, 4-star. Manchester is their nearest airport for a Saudia flight to Jeddah. Term time keeps both the fare and the hotel lower.
A family of five with three children from Birmingham, 10 nights, 4-star. They will most likely travel in a school holiday, so their flights cost more than the couple's. A shared family room and a private car keep their land cost down per head.
Two parents and an adult son from East London, 14 nights, 5-star. They would gain most from the e-visa's built-in health cover on top of a full travel policy, and from a hotel next to the Haram so the parents can rest between prayers.
Send us your own shape and dates, and we price the land package in writing.

Questions and answers
How much does Umrah cost from the UK?
Add your flight, our land package, your entry permission, insurance and spending money. Send us your dates and we give you today's land price in writing.
Do you sell flights from the UK?
No. We are not ATOL protected, so UK families book flights with an airline or agent they trust. We arrange the hotels, transport and ground support.
Why are your prices shown without flights?
Because you book the flight. Add your fare to our land price before comparing with an all-inclusive UK package.
Which month costs least for Umrah from the UK?
Term-time weeks outside Ramadan and December usually cost less for both flights and hotels. School holidays cost more.
Can we do Umrah at Easter 2027?
Not on an Umrah visa: the last entry date for 1448 is 23/03/2027 and Easter Sunday is 28/03/2027. Rules for other routes at that time had not been published when we checked on 20/10/2026.
Do British citizens need a visa for Umrah?
You need entry permission. GOV.UK lists the e-visa, an ETA and an electronic visa waiver, and lists Umrah outside the Hajj season under the ETA and the waiver.
Does the Saudi e-visa include insurance?
GOV.UK says it includes health insurance up to SAR 100,000. The ETA and visa waiver don't. Buy travel insurance either way.
Will my travel insurance cover Saudi Arabia now?
It may not. The FCDO notes insurance may be invalid against its advice. Ask your insurer in writing before you book.
Are there direct flights from the UK to Jeddah?
Saudia flies to Jeddah from Heathrow, and Manchester and Birmingham have had Saudia services too. Check saudia.com for this season's days.
Do you have an office in the UK?
No. Our office is in Islamabad. We work with UK families on WhatsApp, email and phone.
